Omran Malek, is the Head of the Smart Autonomous Vehicle Industry (SAVI) Cluster at the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO). With 14 years of flying experience, six years in regulatory roles and three years working on electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) projects, he brings deep expertise in autonomous mobility, robotics and smart vehicle technologies.

At ADIO, Omran leads efforts to position Abu Dhabi as a global hub for smart and autonomous mobility. He works closely with international innovators, policymakers and industry leaders to drive investment, industrialisation and technological advancement in the sector. His role is central to fostering economic diversification and ensuring Abu Dhabi remains at the forefront of next-generation mobility solutions.

Prior to joining ADIO, Omran built a distinguished career in aviation and regulatory affairs, including key roles at the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), where he specialised in policy & regulation development, and the integration of emerging technologies. He has also played a significant role in advancing eVTOL projects, contributing to the evolution of urban air mobility and the seamless integration of new aircraft technologies.

As a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society (FRAeS), Omran is recognised for his contributions to the aerospace industry. His expertise in autonomous systems, industrial strategy and regulatory frameworks continues to shape the future of smart mobility, supporting Abu Dhabi’s vision as a leader in innovation and sustainable transport.
