Cities house over half the world's population, consuming 78% of global energy and produce 70% of carbon emissions. UN-Habitat's New Urban Agenda provides a roadmap for transforming infrastructure delivery to support sustainable urbanisation. The framework emphasises integrated planning that connects transport, housing, water, and energy systems whilst prioritising climate resilience and social inclusion. Through partnerships with governments and private sector, well-planned infrastructure investments can simultaneously address housing shortages, create employment, and build climate adaptation capacity.
